Unisol MP FAQs

What is Unisol MP and when should I use it?

Unisol MP is a general-purpose, high-oil content, water-soluble metalworking fluid. When mixed with water it forms a stable, milky-white emulsion that provides good lubricity and corrosion protection, which makes it ideal for machining operations like turning, milling, drilling, sawing and surface/centreless grinding on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

How do I mix and apply Unisol MP correctly for best results?

Unisol MP should be diluted with water to form the working emulsion. The exact dilution depends on the machining process, material and water quality. Because it is water-soluble, ensure good water quality (e.g. correct hardness, clean water) to maintain emulsion stability and avoid premature sump degradation.

Regular coolant monitoring, including; concentration, bacterial and fungal levels as well as visual inspections, helps maximise coolant life and machining performance. Our PROCARE Fluid Management Service helps you maintain coolant health, whilst compling with HSE MW05 guidelines.

What types of machining operations is Unisol MP suitable for?

Unisol MP is ideal for turning, milling, drilling, sawing, tapping, centreless grinding, and surface grinding. Its broad compatibility makes it suitable for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and copper alloys.

What water quality is recommended for Unisol MP?

For optimal emulsion stability, use water with moderate hardness (typically 80–200 ppm). Very soft water can cause foam, while very hard water may affect emulsion stability. Regular testing of water quality and coolant concentration helps extend fluid life. This can be easily managed with our PROCARE Fluid Cloud system.
