What`s better than getting a new Freddy? Well getting two new Freddy`s obviously! Especially custom coloured ones! 🎨🖌

Following the recent acquisition of a new site to the Paralloy Group Limited, we were asked for our help once again to assist with fluid recycling ♻️ and to reduce waste.

We recommended two options here; firstly the big brute Ecovac 300 which will be used for full fluid changes and interoperational filtering of coolant on a range of machines running on soluble oil.

Secondly, the deep hole borers on site spill quite an amount of neat cutting oil into drip trays during operation, which currently goes to waste. This will now be sucked up, filtered and reused with the easy to manoeuvre Micro Plus.

No, we haven`t been hacked, and yes, we do encourage and assist our customers to use less oil. Why? Because it`s the right thing to do, they seem to like it, and they keep coming back for less! (see what we did there 😏)

We`ve all heard the strapline "have a break, have a kit kat" but it`s a bit extreme giving your Freddy Vac all 4 fingers!

This particular Fred could do with a break in another way, give the poor guy a filter bag at least! If you don`t use a bag, you`ll eventually fill his belly with silt and swarf leaving you the mammoth task of giving him a stomach pump.

This particular basket had also created its own filter of sorts, by developing a bio film and fungus mat meaning fluid could barely pass through.....so another unnecessary job jet washing all the mess out.

These machines are the best on the market by a country mile, but they do need to be used and maintained correctly........if you have a sad Fred and need some help getting him back to his prime, get in touch, our help and advice is always free 😉

Do you store your lubricants outside? If so, it`s wise to ensure they are protected from the elements with any lids, closures or bungs tightly in place!

We were contacted by a customer a few weeks ago, who were concerned that something wasn`t quite right with their slideway oil. The barrel was stored outside, with a barrel pump leaning precariously on its side, meaning an amount of rain water and overnight dew had made its way in to the drum, the result of which is easy to see against our retained sample.

Just imagine the damage this could`ve done had it found its way in to the lubrication system in one of their CNC machine tools 🫣

We received an order for 8 x 205 litres of neat cutting oil late Friday afternoon from a new distributor who`d been let down by their supplier one time too many.

We jumped straight on the job this morning, and the delivery of water white Metacut Ultra RCM 12 will be with them tomorrow, a vast improvement on the 2 week lead time they`d been used to!

Dipslide testing coolant should now be taking place in every machine shop in the UK - checking for levels of bacteria, yeasts & fungus.

Here are a few results that might raise an eyebrow... 👀

These are all tests of the incoming make-up water found at various sites. 🤮

Usually as part of our Technical Sales Engineer @robertdulieu troubleshooting routine for investigating sudden deterioration or persistent problems.

Don`t assume your water supply is an impartial player in your coolant management plan. Whatever the reason, compromised or contaminated water supply will lose you the battle before your machine is even filled. It`s typically over 90% of a coolant emulsion after all.

It`s rare, but with pressures on the water supply, extreme weather events & aging infrastructure it`s something we are seeing often enough that it`s now part of the check list when things aren`t going as well as they should be.

Remedies seen range from UV filters to total replacement of the onsite water delivery infrastructure.

Something to think about next time you take a break & enjoy a cuppa ☕
